[Evaluation of anthelmintic activity of aqueous extracts of Bidens pilosa L. in the elimination of Vampirolepis nana (Von Siebold, 1952) Spasskii, 1954.] Avaliação da atividade anti-helmíntica de extratos aquosos de Bidens pilosa L. na eliminação de Vampirolepis nana (Von Siebold, 1952) Spasskii, 1954. E-mail: borba@ufrrj.br Tests with Bidens pilosa L. (beggartick) aqueous extracts were carried out aiming to evaluate its anthelmintic activity. Fresh infusions of 5, 10 and 20% were administered intragastrically for three consecutive days in mice naturally infected with Vampirolepis nana (Von Siebold, 1952) Spasskii, 1954. In addition to these tests, the phytochemical analysis of the plant in order to investigate the presence of certain secondary compounds was also carried out. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of: reducing sugar, coumarin, saponins and tannins. The anthelmintic activity was evaluated by the controlled critical entero-nemacidal test and results are promising as therapeutic potential anthelmintic extracts of B. pilosa, especially if consider that the tests were carried out with aqueous extracts.</p> ER -
