E-mail: gisa_meireles@yahoo.com.br The buffalo breeding has great economic potential, but a little importance is giving in some areas of Brazil. There is little information on the impact of coccidiosis in calves. Eimeriosis is considered as more important especially in young calves due to morbidity and mortality. This paper aims to report two outbreaks of Eimeria bareillyi on dairy farms, one at the Municipality of Rio Claro and, the second one located at the Municipality of Itaguai, both in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the first dairy farm, the owner pointed out death of 10 animals, aged between 30 and 60 days of life in a period over four months. In the second propriety, calves aged of two to four weeks old, did not died, but developed symptoms characterized by sudden diarrhea, with rapid recovery without causing anorexia or weight loss. In the first case, one of the 10 died calves was posted. Histologically, lesions in the final portion of the ileum were characterized by loss of mucosal cells, shortening of villi and presence of the parasite forms, characterized by oocysts, macro and microgametocytes. Likewise, in the second property, young calves also developed diarrhea without come to death. Fecal samples from calves of both dairy farms were examined, where a large amount of E. bareillyi oocysts were found. Baycox ® 5% at a dose of 30mg/kg was used in both properties and coccidiosis was cleared.</p>}, number={2}, journal={Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Medicine}, author={de Meireles, Gisele Santos and da Silva, Natália Mello Pereira and Galvão, Gideão da Silva and Almeida, Claudio Rogério Rocha and Flausino, Walter and Lopes, Carlos Wilson Gomes}, year={2012}, month={Jun.}, pages={116–120} }
