E-mail: dilvaniarocha@hotmail.com Bovine cysticercosis is a zoonosis of major impact for both animal and public health. Cysticercus bovis is most commonly found at post mortem inspection of slaughtered cattle in in Brazil where it is considered as a very common cause of carcasses condemnation and organs, generating a significative economic losses. The objective was to evaluate the occurrence of cysticercosis in cattle slaughtered in meat-packing with State Inspection in Vitória da Conquista, BA, between period January 2009 to January 2010, a survey was conducted on 77,863 cases of cysticercosis at Confrigo cattle Slaughterhouse. Of the total number of slaughtered animals 2,773 (3.56%) were positive for Cysticercus bovis, being 80% were observed in the head, 14% in the heart, 1% in the esophageal muscles and 5% in the striated musculature.
