Fifty bladders from bovines with gross lesions were collected, each bladder being divided into four quadrants, identified as A, B, C and D, for histopathologic evaluation, totalizing 200 samples. The samples were characterized macroscopically and divided into two fragments, one for histopathological analysis and the other for PCR. The PCR was only performed in samples with neoplastic lesions confirmed by microscopy. Histopathologic analysis showed five samples positive for neoplasm (2.5%). The presence of bovine papillomavirus type 2 in all neoplastic lesions of the urinary bladder of cattle was confirmed by PCR, and reinforces the hypothesis of the relationship between the presence of viral agent, the plant and the development of neoplastic lesions in the bladders of cattle with bovine enzootic hematuria (HEB).
