E-mail: liannavet@yahoo.com.br This study aimed to determine the presence of antibodies against Neospora caninum and the distribution among the different age groups in dogs from Barra da Tijuca in the City of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Serum samples from 402 animals atended at CTIVeterinário were analyzed by Immunofluorescence Antibody test (IFAT), using as cut off 1:50. The frequency of seropositive animals was 8.46 % (34/ 402). In the present study there was a significant difference (p=0.014) when was compared seropositivity animals according to different age groups where animals with ≤ 10 years old had 2.35 more choice of becoming infected when compared with young ones. The results show the first record of the exposure of dogs to N. caninum in the studied region.
