It is responsable for increased immunoglobulin production and the disease mechanism is associated mainly to the blood hyperviscosity syndrome (blood disorders, neurologic sings, increased cardiac input and renal disease). At least two in four diagnostic criteria must occur: lytic bone lesion, bone marrow cytology with more than 5% plasma cell, monoclonal gamopathy in the serum or urine and Bence-Jones proteinury. This report described a case of multiple myeloma in dog, whose diagnostic procedure occurred from the evidence of an osteolytic lesion in the left forelimb, with subsequent combination of 3 of the 4 criteria used to definitive diagnosis of this disease.
